Prophecies foretold death will claim him soon
Unwilling to die, he swore to be prepared
An oath was demanded from everything,
Everything the world would know

All swore, though one sprout forgotten
Frigga claimed it could never harm
Her gaze fell upon the missletoe
Judging it to young, to take the vow


Go around until all is sworn
Task is done
Fear the youngsters blow

Too young for an oath
The cause of death
Hodr the blind, no sight on what's ahead


From the branch which seemed so fair
Came a harmful shaft that Hodr should hurl
A test of champions and gods alike
To throw the weapons which couldn’t harm

It was Loki, treacherous and vile
Who gave the blind his dreaded spear
it was Hodr, who aimed at the god
Baldr struck by the misstletoe


Go around until all is sworn
Task is done

Baldr, shielded from all but one,
Struck by a spear of mistletoe
As he fell, all gods struck silent
The silence deafening, the grief untold

Yet Baldr, wise and fairest of all
Who shall return after many are slain
When all ills fade, he’ll rise up
Alongside Hodr, the new earth shall rule
